Everyone needs a good green smoothie in their life*. It’s not going to perform any health miracles, but it’s a nice easy way of getting those super nutritious dark green leaves into ya. Just go easy on the fruit.
Ingredients
½ an apple
1 kiwi fruit
¼ of an avocado
big handful of spinach (try beetroot leaves, broccoli leaves, kale, rocket or silverbeet instead)
1 tablespoon chia
¼ cup water (just enough to make your blender wiz)
How to
- Add everything into your blender and blend until smooth (or add to a jug and blitz with a stick mixer).
- Do a taste test to make sure there aren’t any lumps of spinach left. If there are, do another quick blitz.
- Pour into a tall glass and drink.
- If you store the leftovers, the chia seeds will asborb some of the liquid and swell. You may need to add a splash or two of water and give it a good mix before using.
*You really don’t! If you’d rather eat your greens – do that instead. Green smoothies can be a good way to boost your intake of leafy greens if you struggle to get them in with meals though. And they make for a tasty and nutritious snack!
